Prague, 20 November 2025 - ASEKOL, the Czech Republic’s largest compliance scheme for the take-back of EEE, has celebrated its 20th anniversary at Prague’s Municipal House.

Over the past two decades, ASEKOL has ensured the collection and recycling of more than 500,000 tonnes of electrical waste across the Czech Republic and has built up the country’s largest network of collection points

ASEKOL has long been committed to promoting environmental awareness and the responsible management of end-of-life electrical appliances. A key part of the gala evening was the traditional announcement of the “Active Region” and “Active Municipality” awards, which recognise regions, towns and municipalities for their long-term contribution to the collection and recycling of e-waste.

Results of the Active Region and Active Municipality Awards

The Active Region and Active Municipality competitions were announced in two categories: “Award for the Largest Quantity of Collected Electrical Equipment” and “Award for Awareness-Raising Activities in the Sorting and Recycling of Electrical Waste.” The winning regions and municipalities received significant financial contributions to support further development in the field of waste management.

Active Municipality Awards

  • The winner in the category Largest Quantity of Electrical Equipment Collected was the Statutory City of Jihlava, which received a financial contribution of CZK 150,000.
  • The award and a contribution of CZK 150,000 in the category of Awareness-Raising Activities in the Sorting and Recycling of Electrical Waste went to the Statutory City of Ústí nad Labem

Active Region Awards

  • The winner in the category Largest Quantity of Electrical Equipment Collected was the South Bohemian Region, which received a CZK 200,000 contribution.
  • The Karlovy Vary Region received the Award for Awareness-Raising Activities in the Sorting and Recycling of Electrical Waste, along with a CZK 200,000 contribution.
"We warmly congratulate all the winning regions and municipalities for their outstanding work.
Over the past twenty years, we have ensured the recycling of more than half a million tonnes of e-waste in the Czech Republic - and this success is mostly down to people: our employees, clients, representatives of state and local authorities, partners, and responsible citizens. Thanks to your trust and long-term cooperation, ASEKOL has become a respected player in the field of recycling at the international level. We continuously strive to improve our services and deliver simple, efficient solutions to manufacturers while remaining a reliable partner for regions and municipalities. We greatly value your trust and look forward to many more years together,"

says Jan Vrba, Chairman of the Board of ASEKOL a.s.

Charity auction: CZK 150,000 for the Czech National Disability Council

The official part of the evening concluded with a charity auction of a unique artwork by Matyáš Chochola, created from materials recovered during the recycling process. The piece was created especially for ASEKOL’s 20th anniversary.

The auction was attended by invited guests and raised an incredible 150,000 CZK. The entire amount was donated to ASEKOL’s long-term partner, the Czech National Disability Council (CNDC), which plays a crucial role in supporting people with disabilities.

"I am truly delighted that we could use our anniversary to support a charitable cause. We have been working with the CNDC for more than 10 years and we greatly appreciate their work and commitment. Together, we play a role in employing people with disabilities through sheltered workshops,”

concludes Jan Vrba.
