ASEKOL and CANON continue the tradition - ECO WEEK 2025, again all about sustainability

In the week from 31 March to 4 April 2025, CANON held another edition of the popular environmental initiative ECO WEEK, organised in cooperation with the ASEKOL compliance scheme. The event was aimed at promoting responsible e-waste management and increasing ecological awareness in everyday corporate practice.

CANON has long emphasised the importance of sustainability and minimising the environmental impact of its operations. During ECO WEEK, employees actively got involved in collecting end-of-life electrical appliances, sorted electrical waste and took part in educational activities focused on recycling and the circular economy. There were also themed competitions and educational quizzes designed to raise awareness of the importance of the proper way to sort end-of-life electrical equipment.

The event culminated in the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the scheme, with a ceremony to present awards to the most active employees and a contribution of CZK 20,000, which will be used to support activities aimed at raising awareness about the sorting and recycling of e-waste. The cheque was presented by Daniel Šafář, ASEKOL Sales and Marketing Director, who added:

"We have a long-standing partnership with CANON and we are pleased to take this opportunity to celebrate the 20th anniversary of our partnership, and we appreciate the mutual bond of trust. We still share the common goal of promoting sustainability, the circular economy and environmental protection. ECO WEEK 2025 was once again a very inspiring event and we thank everyone who participated.

And what were the results of this year's edition? A total of 430 kg of e-waste was collected, which will then be ecologically processed. This result is a significant step forward in helping to save the environment.

According to the LCA analysis, this amount of e-waste is equivalent, for example, to 40.5 m³ of water savings or a reduction of CO₂ emissions of approximately 577 kg,

CCMS Senior Manager Eva Kučmášová, CANON CZ representative, concluded the event by adding. “Environmental protection is more than just a strategy for us - it's a corporate value. Thanks to our employees and our partnership with ASEKOL, we've once again proven that even a corporate event can have a meaningful impact."
